The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) will constitute a waste management advisory committee including members from the BBMP, directorate of municipal administration, resident welfare associations, NGOs and waste processing units.
AS Sadashivaiah, chairman, KSPCB, told TOI the committee is likely to be announced on Thursday. “I have just a week to finish my term in KSPCB and after that, I may join the NGOs and fight to get solid waste management policies implemented by the civic agencies. We will first constitute the advisory committee which will have resident welfare associations, BBMP, NGOs like Solid Waste Management Round Table to give better ideas to BBMP to handlemunicipal waste and also enforce policies,” he said.
He also said the immediate solutions to tackle the menace and the best time to start decentralized waste management is to begin enforcement of segregation at source and having local waste management centres and composting units in every ward… Read more
