Dozens traveled to Savannah Wednesday to talk about the power of the sun in terms of generating electricity. Then they took a side trip. They went to the IKEA Distribution Center, climbed several flights of steps and saw the reality of solar power. IKEA has installed more than 6,000 solar panels and will soon be generating 100 percent of the electricity it needs during the day.
“This is an amazing achievement for the state of Georgia and solar energy at large,” said Jennifer Moore, the executive director of the Georgia Solar Energy Association.
The IKEA project is the largest solar installation in Georgia.
