RENEWABLE energy installers in Nottinghamshire believe new green electricity incentives will keep bringing in business despite a year of Government U-turns and disruptive policy change.
Under a new Feed-in Tariff (FiT) system that came into force this month, the payment rate to households producing their own solar electricity has been slashed by 24 per cent.
The time span for solar schemes has also been reduced from 25 to 20 years – which means householders have five fewer years in which to make a profit on their investment.
Although this is just the latest rate reduction in the FiT incentive scheme since it was introduced in April 2010, renewable installation companies, which have built businesses on the back of the scheme’s popularity, hope the new system will bring an end to uncertainty and give customers renewed confidence to install green technologies… Read more
